Carl Thomas “Tom” Hatfield
Carl Thomas “Tom” Hatfield, 83, of Pikeville, Tennessee died Friday morning, May 22, 2026, at Fort Sanders Hospital.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a teacher, coach, and principal for many years at Hanahan High School in Charleston, South Carolina, and later at Bledsoe County High School and Pikeville Elementary School in Pikeville, Tennessee.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Judy Thomas Hatfield; second wife, Caroline McKechnie Hatfield; brother, Buster Hatfield; sister, Phyllis Moffitt; father, Frank Hatfield; and mother, Mable Cunningham Hatfield.
Survivors include a son, Ron Hatfield of Acworth, Georgia; two daughters, Rhonda (Chris) Cagle and Farrah (Matt) Fields, both of Pikeville; a stepson, Jeff (Celine) McBrayer of Whitfield, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Cindy (Bob) Heistand of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; three grandsons, Thomas (Melynie) Cagle, Brad (Aubrey) Cagle, and Austin Hatfield; two granddaughters, Kayla (Andrew) Parsons and Addie Fields; two step-grandchildren, Will Heistand and Rylee McBrayer; seven great-grandchildren, Rylan, Evan, Wyatt, Chloe, Greyson, Jackson Cagle, and Kamden Parsons; a sister, Shelby Hatfield of Pikeville, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Beverly (Paul) Bacarro of Wimauma, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Pope Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 25, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. CDT and Tuesday, May 25, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. CDT.
