Bledsoe County Schools Closed Friday

Bledsoe County Schools continue being closed through Friday, January 19, due to secondary road conditions. Friday night’s high school basketball games have been cancelled.

Keith loses cabinet workshop to fire

A family-owned and operated cabinet workshop off Old Mountain Road in Bledsoe County was completely destroyed by fire January 4, according to firefighters. Custom made cabinets, building materials, and equipment were lost to the blaze. For more, see the January 11 issue of The Bledsonian Banner.

Opening of textile factory delayed

Textile Corporation of America, the company that last summer promised 1,000 new jobs in Pikeville, say delays have caused the company to push back their original start date which was last known to be November 2017. For more, see the January 11 issue of The Bledsonian Banner.

    Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department’s first Saturday fundraiser lunch has been moved to Saturday, January 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. EST due to extreme cold weather. Lunch will include one meat, two vegetables, one side item (if available), bread, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. Proceeds will help support the department and community-supporting activities. Everyone is invited.
