Albert Paul Roberts

Albert Paul Roberts
Albert Paul Roberts, 91, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of family and the promise of eternal life.
At the age of 14, Albert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, beginning a lifelong walk of faith and service. Albert was a faithful member of First Southern Baptist Church for 55 years. Throughout those years he served the Lord in many roles, including Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher, RA teacher, and deacon. His life was a testimony of dedication to his church, his faith, and the people around him.
In 1953, Albert married the love of his life, Carolyn Curtis. They shared 60 wonderful years of marriage before her passing. Together they built a loving family and raised three children: Vicki, Paula, and Eddie.
Albert is survived by his daughters, Vicki Smith (Marvin) and Paula Peters; his grandchildren, Billy Bridges, Mendy Tennille, Marlin (Melissa) Smith, Caleb (Kendra) Scarbrough, Brittney Minga, and Casey Mae Roberts; and his great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Finley Scarbrough, Parker Dean Minga, and Evan and Ethan Dennis. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Roberts, and his sister, Janet Reid.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Roberts, and his son, Eddie Albert Roberts.
Albert enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, playing Rook, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and had followed the team faithfully since their days as the Brooklyn Dodgers. Albert worked many years serving his community. He was a partner at RD Roberson Grocery for 40 years. Later he worked at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, and also served as a lunch monitor at the local high school, where he enjoyed interacting with the students. Albert also shared a special bond with his grandson Billy Bridges. Together they hosted a radio and television program on W.U.A.T./BTC Fiber Channel 18 called The Albert and Billy Show. Wherever they went, people recognized them and enjoyed the joy and laughter they brought to others.
Albert often said, “The three sweetest words you can hear are: Home, Heaven, and Momma.”
Above all else, Albert loved serving the Lord. If he could leave one message, it would be that Jesus came and died on the cross for us all.
