The loss of a child, whether they are young or an adult is never easy. One way the mother of fallen Hamilton County deputy, Landon Faulkner, chose to remember her son was to have the Bledsoe County High School construction class build a picnic table – one for family and friends to gather around and share memories about her son.
Jenny Faulkner, the mother of Landon and a former teacher at BCHS, contacted Carlos Davis, BCHS construction instructor, about the project.
She told Davis how her son loved to spend time with is father at his diesel garage, and she wanted them to build a picnic table to be placed at the garage in her son’s memory.
“We took great honor in building this table for this officer,” said Davis. “I told the students how much of an honor it was for them to be a part of it, not only representing our school but helping the family be able to remember Faulkner.”
It took Cooper Reed and Chase Minshew about 2-3 hours to measure the pressure treated lumber, cut, sand, and put together the picnic table. They were the lead builders, but many other students assisted with sanding and finishing the table, said Davis.
DECA teacher Lucas Travis worked with Cameron Walker to design and engrave a sign to go with the table. A cedar plank was engraved with a Chevrolet emblem and stars on each side and the words: In Remembrance of Landon Faulker K.O.W. 4/10/2026 10:26 a.m.
Members of the Construction and DECA classes presented the 6-foot picnic table and plaque to Landon’s brother when the project was completed, said Davis.
Landon, 24, was involved in an accident on US Highway 111 in Sequatchie County in April.
