J.D. Angel

J.D. Angel, 78, of Pikeville, Tennessee died Thursday, April 12, 2018. He attended Whole Armor Full Gospel Church and many other churches over the years. He was a disc jockey at WUAT for 30 years. He was a musician and played on the Grand Ole Opry when he was six years old. He custom-made petal steel guitars and amplifiers. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46-1/2 years, Doris Angel; father, Homer David Angel; mother, Ida May Angel; and sisters, Eula May Angel, Alene Jennings and Dorothy Brock. He is survived by his children, Cindy (Randy) Smith of Pikeville; Tina (Gary) Cross of Crossville, and Rebecca (Mark) Brisbay of Georgia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Ilene) Angel of Crossville, sister, Margaret Fann of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial was in Iron Hill Cemetery.
