Opal McPherson

Opal McPherson, 86, of Pikeville, died Thursday, June 11, 2026.

She was of the Baptist faith. She loved collecting antiques from the Depression era. She loved to read and she loved to see the ocean and smell the salt air. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her son, Steve Smith; brother, Donnie Medley; and brother-in-law, Hossie Burgess.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Byron) Roberts of Sale Creek, Tennessee, Vickie (Jr.) Torbett of Hixson, Tennessee, Mike McPherson of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Scott (Bekah) McPherson of Pikeville; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Gladys Burgess of Crossville, Tennessee; brother, James Medley of Las Vegas, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN.
