Edna Godsey Davis, 94, passed away at her home on Thursday morning, August 8, 2013.
Mrs. Davis was a longtime resident of the Hixson Community. She grew up and spent her young years on the Godsey Cedar Grove Farms, and after her marriage she resided with her husband and children on Godsey Drive, in Hixson, until her move to Pikeville, nine years ago.
She was a graduate of the Hixson High School. Edna is Charter member of the Central Baptist Church of Hixson where she served as the first secretary and treasure of the church, and she was a former primary Sunday School teacher and a former member of the Senior Ester Sunday School class.
Mrs. Davis was a wonderful homemaker, making her home a welcoming comfort to her family and friends. She loved the outdoors flowers, and watching humming birds.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ovis J. Davis; her parents Grady and Sally Godsey; brothers Matt, Willard, James, and Austin Godsey; and sisters Zetta and Isabelle Godsey
She is survived by her children Catherine Sue Davis Stults of Pikeville, O. Grady Davis of Pikeville, T. Martin Davis of Crossville, and R. Denton Davis of Hixson; sister Pearl Godsey Bice of Hixson; grandchildren Susan (Jim) Warden, Cynthia Rainey, Michael (Candi) Stults, Matthew (Holly) Davis, Shanyn Davis, Jeff Davis, Marta Davis, Neely Davis; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews
A graveside service was conducted at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Sunday, August 11 with Pastor Jimmy Williams officiating.
