Thurman Lee Knight

Thurman Lee Knight, 84, of North Ridgeville, Ohio passed away Thursday June 27, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a long illness which he fought with dignity and lost with pride. He was born January 14, 1929 in Pikeville, and had resided in North Ridgeville since 1949.

Knight retired in 1991 after more than 34 years at Lear Siegler Inc. in Elyria, Ohio where he worked in the Experimental Department as a journeyman machinist. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, was a member of the Elyria Masonic Lodge #787, of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and of the Lorain County Scottish Rite Society.

Knight enjoyed gardening, metal work, wood working, making bird houses and spending time with his beloved family.  

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruby (nee Keller); two daughters, Barbara Gouge (the Late Ed) and Debbie Rice (Jay), both of North Ridgeville; one son, Leroy Knight (Margie) of North Ridgeville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice (Herbert) Hale of Pikeville; and by many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Sue Knight in 1961; his parents, Ollie V. and Lela (nee Gilbert) Knight; his sister, Minnie Lou; his brother, Hubert Knight; and by a son-in-law, Ed Gouge Jr., who joined him the same day on his journey to Heaven.

Members from the Elyria Masonic Lodge #787 conducted a memorial service at the funeral home, and the funeral service  was held July 2 at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Crow, pastor of Harvest Ridge Church in North Ridgeville, officiating.  Burial was at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
