Elbert Lee Alder

    Elbert Lee Alder, beloved husband and father, passed away at his home in Jasper on September 23, 2010 with his family by his side. He was 83, born January 23, 1927 to the late Jasper and Grace Alder.

    He was a retired carpenter and painter. He also worked with TVA on several occasions. He was of the Baptist faith. Alder was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Grace Alder Kilgore; brothers, Paul and Merrel Alder; sisters, Louise Downey and Nellie Wallace; grandchildren, Michael Paul Davis and Andrew Lynn Alder.

    He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Annie Mae (Johnson) Alder; children, Diane (Ricky) Davis of Pikeville, Ricky (Elaine) Alder of Ringgold, Georgia, Danny (Susie) Alder, Debbie (William) Waldon, and Jerry Alder, all of Jasper, Kenneth (Charity) Alder of New Hope; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jr. Alder of South Pittsburg; Sam (Barbara) Alder of Rossville, Georgia, Joe Alder and Roger (Diane) Alder, both of Jasper; sisters, Betty (Ralph) Tambro of Illinois, Barbara (Gary) Nunley Rachael (Johnny) Jones of Sequatchie, and Margaret (Tex) Casteel of Jasper; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

    Services were held September 27 in the chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper with Pastor Bill Broom presiding. Burial was in Sequatchie Memorial Gardens.
