Clayton Garner Fields
Clayton Garner Fields, 86, of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at home.
Clayton graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1957. He really didn’t know what to do so he worked in several occupations and then on October 11, 1961 he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. He loved and proudly served his country.
After serving his country he had found the occupation that he loved. He had his own building business for a few years and then worked with USDA as a construction engineer, where he retired to his farm on the Plateau and raised Angus Cattle. Some of his hobbies were bird hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing with his bird dogs, and his guard dog.
He was a member of the VFW Post 5033 for many years. Clayton had over-seas duty in Korea and Vietnam along with foreign service in Korea and Vietnam.
Preceding Clayton in death was his parents, Reuben Lafoy and Myrtle Knight Fields.
Clayton will be missed by his caregiver, Jessica (Michael) Pendergrass; along with some family and friends.
A celebration of life with military honors will be at 12:00 p.m. CST Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in the Pikeville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Britt officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. CST Wednesday, February 18 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Pikeville Funeral Home.
