Bob Samuel Swafford
Bob Samuel Swafford, 81, of Pikeville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and several other organizations. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam and was on Secret Service detail for President Lyndon Johnson. He went on to be a lineman for TVA, then to Dillard Smith as a foreman for several years and then went on to SVEC.
He was a local business owner until he was elected Sheriff of Bledsoe County from 1994-2006. During that time, he was selected as one of the Governor’s representatives on the Meth Task Force. Since retiring from the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Office, he has continued as a local business owner and enjoyed his farm, his family and helping the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Charles and Josephine Swafford; son, Brooks Kirk Swafford; and special aunt, Christine Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Swafford of Pikeville; children, Paige Holt of Chattanooga, Bryant (Carmen) Swafford, Michael Hutcheson, Amy (Wayne) Agee and Kendall Swafford, all of Pikeville; daughter-in-law, Lena Grant; grandchildren, Sharlie, Kali, Jace, Laci, Austin, Savanah, Ben, Lane, Sam, Jake and Molly; seven great-grandchildren, Knox, Memphis, Payton, Willa, Jairus, Freya and Natalee; brother, Charles “Chick” Swafford of Pikeville; sister, Joann Kilgore of Pikeville; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Doyle Ashburn officiating. Burial was in Iron Hill Cemetery.
