Steve Neely

Steve Neely, 63, passed away peacefully Thursday December 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A Van Buren County native, Steve was born on February 2, 1958 in Spencer to the late J. C. and Laura Dodson Neely. Steve was a 1975 graduate of Van Buren County High School and worked at Taft Youth Center for 20 years.

He married the love of his life, Julie White, on February 25, 1985 and they spent 37 wonderful years together. Steve was a loving Husband, Father and proud “Papaw.” He loved spending all the time he could with his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving family, wife, Julie White Neely of Van Buren County; daughters, Wendy (Brian) Hensley of Van Buren County, Chasity (Kyle) Roberts of Brentwood, and LaChelle (Dylan) Lee of Van Buren County; brothers, Roger (Stephanie) Neely, Mike (Cindy) Neely, Sam Neely, and Scott (Sasha) Neely all of Van Buren County; sister, Pat (Mike) Rankin of Van Buren County; grandchildren, Kaylee Hensley, Knox and Sloane Roberts, Ashley, Jaci and Emma Lee, great-grandchild; Harper Howell. And long-time friend, William Moody. Many nieces, nephews and extended family also survives.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 23, at 5:00 p.m. in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Bobby Collier and Bro. Wayne Sullivan officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. till time of service at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be to the Ronald McDonald House in Steve’s memory.
