Dorothy Mae Brown Nix, 61 of Pikeville, Tennessee died Thursday, December 2, 2021.
Dorothy was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she became an Ordained Evangelist in 2002 under Pastor Beulah Stoudemire. Later she attended and faithfully supported Pikeville Chapel AME Zion Church. She had a special love for God and her family that allowed her faith to guide her in her decision making.
Some of Dorothy’s hobbies were making flower arrangements, decorating, singing, fishing, traveling, collecting teapots and African art. Dorothy worked in the medical field for many years and was always a joy to be around.
Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband, J. C. “Jerry” Nix, Jr.; parents, Arlon J. C. and Clara Mae Lowery Brown; brothers, Franklin Brock, Lonnie Brock, Edward Brown; sisters, Nyla Rose Brock, Betty Sue Brock; aunts, Louise Bridgeman and Pauline Hood.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Brock Clark; brother, James Brown; special and loving niece/daughter, Ali Clark and babies, Elijah “Bubby” and Nakayla; sisters-in-law, Norma Brock, Teresa Brock, and Kay Brock; several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
A celebration of life was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Billingsley officiating. Burial followed in Henson Cemetery.
