Garry Darryl Blaylock

Garry Darryl Blaylock, 60, died at Cookeville Regional Hospital, Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Garry was of the Baptist faith, a 1979 graduate of Van Buren County High School, and was a Correctional Officer with Taft Youth Center for 19 years. He loved his grandchildren, had a love for Classical Rock Music, raising Pit Bulls and game chickens, enjoyed target shooting, collecting knives and zippo lighters.

Preceding Garry in death were his father, James Edward “Cotton” Blaylock; and brother, Jackie Blaylock.

Garry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty Grace Pruitt Blaylock; sons, Dylan (Candi) Blaylock, Nick Smith, Andrew Smith; daughters, Vanessa (Dave) Sumner, Ashley (Andrew) Gauvin, Andrea Blaylock; mother, Dorothy Irene Roberts Blaylock; brother, Tim (Deb) Blaylock; sister, Ann (Gary) Womack; 14 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A celebration of life was held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Cecil VanWinkle officiating. Burial was in the Lone Wood Cemetery. The family received friends until service time. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Pikeville Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
