Clayton Evans

Clayton Evans, 76, of Spencer, Tennessee, died Saturday, November 21, 2020.

He was a member of Lonewood Baptist Church where he was a former pastor. He was also a former pastor at Liberty Missionary Baptist and Pleasant Grove Baptist. He loved antique cars – building them, showing them, and teaching about the restoration process.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ora Evans; brother, James Evans; and sister, Francis Romans.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Evans of Spencer; children, Melissa (Patrick) Poulson of Spencer, Williams Evans, Jr. of Spencer, Eugene Evans of Pikeville and Michael Evans of Spencer; grandchildren, T.J. Clark, Olivia Poulson, Haley Evans, Josie Evans, Brayton Evans, Sara Evans, Madison Evans, Slayton Evans, Hunter Evans and Mia Evans; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Naomi (Hank) Viers of Virginia, Alvie (Nancy) Evans of Chattanooga, Robert (Arlene) Evans of Spencer, Alice (Harold) Deweese of Pikeville, Deborah (Dallas) Roberson of Pikeville and Jerry (Diane) Evans of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, November 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Blackburn Cemetery with Rev. Cecil VanWinkle and Rev. Darrell Evans  officiating. Burial was in Blackburn Cemetery.
