Elizabeth Gadd

Elizabeth Bell Gadd, 88, of the Brayton Community on Graysville Mountain, passed away Sunday morning, August 11, 2019 at her home.

She was born on November 3, 1930 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Carl and Eleanor (Bennett) Pumphrey. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her son Jeff Gadd, Sr.; her sisters, Darlene Embry and Florence Semonco; and her brother, Carl Pumphrey, Jr.

Elizabeth lived in the Brayton Community since 1971. She was a high school graduate of Mt. Ranier High School in Maryland. Elizabeth served as a nurse’s aide for 30 years at Rhea Medical Center. She enjoyed needle point, gardening, flowers, reading and sewing. She was a member of the Brayton Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Ray Gadd of the Brayton Community; her sons, Greg (Linda) Gadd of Rossville, Georgia and Johnny (Marlyn) Gadd of Graysville Mountain; her two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lori) Gadd of Birchwood and Ginny Beth Gadd of Rossville, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Brody Gadd and Kayla Gadd both of Birchwood;  her sisters, Eleanor Norton of Summerville, South Carolina, Joan Nail of Pikeville and Helen Gadd of Graysville Mountain.

Funeral services for Elizabeth were held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis McChargue and Rev. Bobby Hudson officiating.  She was laid to rest in the Brayton Cemetery on Graysville Mountain Wednesday at noon.
