Gary Everett Burks

Gary Everett Burks, eldest son of Everett and LaVera Burks, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 26, 1938. He rests now as he closed his eyes to the world, for the last time on March 29, 2016.

Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Burks; his six children, Lester Burks (Terry), Twyla Landess (Bill), Teresa Angel (Billy Frank), Leland Burks, April Whitman (Lee) and June Price (James); 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as by his brother Larry Burks and sister Annette Poulton.

Gary was the founder of Pikeville Auto Parts, Burks Tractor, Life Line Foods, Energy Dynamics, DSW Manufacturing and Ameritrek Tours. He was also a partner in Gulf Service Station, Burks Construction and Burks Brothers Farms. He was a man of constant ingenuity and an avid entrepreneur. His mind was always thinking of something that could be done better and of people he could serve. He loved the Lord and strove to follow God’s commands.

May we all look forward to rising with him, when at the voice of the Lord Himself with the trumpet call of God; the dead

in Christ are called to rise. (I Thessalonians 4: 16) Gary, Mr. Congeniality himself, will be looking for us all on that day.

The service was on April 1, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements were made by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home.
