Kathy Mae Gibson Angel

Kathy Mae Gibson Angel, 59, of Pikeville, went to be with God on November 27, 2013. She was born June 4, 1954 in Rogersville, to the late Jake and Mae Gibson.

Kathy was a 1972 graduate of Rogersville High School and an Air Force Veteran who served from 1973 to 1977. Prior to her passing, she was the owner of Cozy Cottage in Pikeville, where she enjoyed meeting and talking with people every day. She was a member of West End Church of God and was known to many as “Aunt Kathy,” which she pridefully enjoyed.

She was the chairman of the Main Street Stage committee, board member of the Pikeville Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Farm Bureau Women’s Club and a supporter of the Wild Turkey Federation.

Kathy loved life and made those around her feel special. She had a beautiful voice and often sang God’s praises in the church choir. She loved her family and put their needs above her own. God has a beautiful new “Angel” in heaven.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Carl Angel of Pikeville; step-sons Kevin Boynton (Olivia Lewis) of Pikeville, Jason (Brittany) and Justin (Stephanie) Pugh both of Crossville; grandchildren, Tanner and Allimae Boynton of Pikeville, and Kendra, Kelsey, Landon and Liam Pugh of Crossville; brother Donald (Barbara) Dobbs of Church Hill; sister, Pat (Jerry) Nelson of Pikeville; brothers-in-law, Roy Joe (Patsy) Angel and Billy Frank (Teresa) Angel of Pikeville, and Harold B. (Terry) Angel of Mountain City; a host of nieces and nephews which will be serving as pallbearers.

Services were held December 1 at West Church of God with Rev. Danny Lee officiating. Burial was in Angel Family Cemetery with military honors.
