Thomas J. Walling

    Thomas J. “ T.J. ” Walling,  84, of Dunlap, passed away December 26, 2010 at his home.

    He was born September 7, 1926 in Bledsoe County. As a member of the Dunlap Church of Christ, he was very active in his church work by duplicating, giving, and sharing church lessons with others.

    He was founder and owner of Black Cat Tire Exchange for 50 years. He owned and operated Kats Car Wash, Kats Equipment, and Kats Min-E Storage.

    Walling was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Sarah Simmons Walling; daughter, Susan Kay Walling; brothers, Everett, Ulysses, and Carlos Walling; and sister, Beulah Webb.

    Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Allie Kate Narramore Walling of Dunlap; sister, Dorthy (Jim) Oaks of Crossville; sister-in-law, Reva Walling of Pikeville; son, Don Walling of Newport; granddaughters, Michelle (Ronny) Collier of Bledsoe County and Dondra Walling of Dunlap; great-grandchildren, Mary and Marshell Collier of Bledsoe County; special niece, Sharon (Dennis) Green of Dunlap; and several other nieces and nephews.

    Funeral Services were held December 29, in the funeral home chapel with minister Freddie Clayton officiating. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.
