  • Yard sale fundraiser for nursing home

    On Friday, April 6, the Bledsoe County Nursing Home is hosting a yard sale fundraiser to benefit activities for residents. The sale will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. in the dining room. No early birds please. Several items were donated to sell and individuals will be selling their items as well. Free wi-fi provided by Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative at the market. Face painting and music are also planned.

The ride begins at Lusk Community Center at 6:00 a.m. with country breakfast plates and drink for $7 per plate. Horse and wagon ride leaves the center at 10:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., lunch and an auction are planned. Lunch plates include hamburger or chili dog with 2 sides and drink for $7 per plate.     Bledsoe County senior citizens and all local produce farmers are invited to attend a SNAP program presentation on Thursday, April 12 at noon at the Senior Citizens Center. There are free applications and assistance, no trips to DHS, also other special deductions for seniors you probably do not know about. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 148 Frazier Street, Pikeville, beside the old rock jail house, behind the Pikeville Clinic. Call JoAnn at 447-6111 for more information. This is an opportunity for the community to utilize the local Farmers Market and local farmers. With the SNAP program, some offer double dollars on every purchase.

      God’s Extended Hands Organization will be onsite distributing food, clothes and hygiene products to the community on April 21 at Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department. Set up will be at noon and will go from 1 to 4 p.m. EDT. Volunteers and donations are welcomed. Everyone is invited.

         On Friday, April 27, a soup and salad fund raiser is being held to help with funeral expenses for Caroline Stansell, a long time employee of Erlanger Bledsoe. Serving is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the dining room at Bledsoe County Nursing Home in Pikeville. Enjoy homemade soup, sandwich, drink and dessert for $6.
