    Bledsoe County Public Library’s summer program kicks off Thursday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. with Joyce Carroll and friends at the library. Sign-up starts a week earlier, so drop by the library to pick up a book bag, some of our new books and get started. “Just for fun summer reading matter,” said Director Carolyne Knight, “keep your child’s brain sharp and active by having a reading activity for at least 20 minutes a day. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you this summer.”

    The Sequatchie Valley Chapter of Daughters of The American Revolution invite the public to a Flag Retirement Ceremony being held at the Bledsoe County Veterans Park on Main Street in Pikeville. It is being held on Flag Day, June 14, at 1:00 p.m., and lasting about 20 minutes. Please bring a lawn chair for comfort, and your old flags so they can be retired in a respectful manner. Following the ceremony, refreshments are being served.BS23

    Second Chance Pet Group volunteers are waiting for calls on its spay and neuter help line. The Pikeville and Dunlap scheduling procedures have changed, and they are working with several vets. Call 554-4442 to discuss your pet’s needs. Leave your name, phone number, best time to return your call, and what service you need. If you are blocking private callers, the group will not be able to reach you. Volunteers will call you and schedule your appointments. The organization has been assisting communities for the last six years.BT23S24
