  • Paws and Claws to meet

    Paws and Claws Animal Shelter is having its monthly membership meeting on Thursday, February 8 at the Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative Training Center on Cumberland Avenue in Pikeville. Everyone is invited to the meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. Come meet with them and help them to build an animal shelter for the Sequatchie Valley area. B5S6

  • PUMC Women have chocolates for Valentines

    Treat your Valentine to a bag of chocolate covered pecans and pecan clusters for $10 per bag. Proceeds raised benefit the Pikeville United Methodist Church Women’s projects. Available at Bilbrey Insurance, Spring Street in Pikeville.

  • Chili Cook-off at Luminary-Frostbite Fire Dept.

    On Saturday, February 10, the Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department, located at 13002 Summer City Road in Spring City, is hosting a Chili Cook-off from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST. There is a $5 entry fee for the chili cookers, and $7 fee per person for all you can eat diners. Trophies are to be awarded for first and second place winners. Diners can choose the winners by scoring the cookers’ chili. Proceeds raised help support the department and community-supporting activities. Everyone is invited.BS6

    Registration for the Bledsoe County Youth Baseball and Softball is being held February 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ballpark. If weather is bad, the sign-ups will be moved to Pikeville Elementary. Children interested in playing T-Ball, baseball or softball are encouraged to sign-up.     Members of American Legion Post 66 and VFW Post 5033 will have a big country breakfast Saturday, February 10 from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Hall in Pikeville. Come out and enjoy biscuits and gravy, ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, coffee, milk and juice for a donation going towards the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The breakfast is sponsored by Robby Roberson, candidate for Bledsoe County Road Supervisor.BS6

  • Chattanooga Symphony/Opera coming to Center

    Bledsoe County Senior Citizens Center is hosting the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera on Wednesday, February 14 at 12:30 p.m. at the Center on Frazier Street in Pikeville. Come hear a quintet performance of professional musicians for free. There is an optional $5 snack and drink available. This event is made possible through an Arts Grant.B6S6-7

  • George Washington’s birthday celebrated

  • PTO basketball on Saturdays

    Wheeler Elementary’s PTO Basketball season has begun! PTO Basketball is held on Saturdays starting at 8:00 a.m. in the Wheeler Elementary gymnasium. Games begin with kindergarten age students and end with the high school age students.  Please come out and show your support for the teams. Admission is $1 for students, $2 for adults. B1S2

  • Ring is coming to Cold Springs First Baptist

    David Ring , a Christian evangelist and motivational speaker who has cerebral palsy, is speaking at Cold Springs First Baptist Church on Sunday, February 25, for the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Ring, who lives in Nashville, has challenged and inspired hundreds of thousands of people with his signature message “I have cerebral palsy … What’s your problem?” He has appeared on numerous programs including James Dobson’s Focus on the Family, Jerry Falwell’s Old Time Gospel Hour, The 700 Club, Trinity Broadcasting Network, and many more. He is author of books, including  his biography “The Boy Born Dead.” Everyone is invited to come and hear this life changing message. BS8

    A representative with Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) is going to be at the Bledsoe County Courthouse on Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. If you have legal problems with housing/mortgage/foreclosure, consumer, health/benefits/food stamps, family, unemployment or senior, and qualify for free legal assistance, you can apply for help.
