Ben Groves
Ben Groves, 64, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to be with our Heavenly Father on the 14th of June, 2024. His sudden passing will continue to be a shock to his family; however, they have joy and happiness knowing he is with the Lord and rejoicing with his mother and father, Jim and Peggy Groves.
Ben was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 31, 1960. He and his family moved to Pikeville, Tennessee in 1969, where he loved exploring the outdoors, riding horses, and spending time with his family and friends. He played football as an offensive tackle for three years for Bledsoe County High School, where he graduated.
He attended Chattanooga State and Tennessee Tech, earning a degree in civil engineering. He worked lifelong in construction and similar fields and always took so much pride in the work he did and it showed. He began his career as a civil engineer, working in Louisiana, where he worked in the salt mine business. He then moved back to Chattanooga, Tennessee to begin a successful career in commercial construction for 41 years. He was a valuable asset for whatever venture he was attached to.
He had a wonderful life and it was filled with wonderful people. His love of people is what got him up in the morning. He never knew a stranger. He was the life of the party and the ultimate host. He loved the outdoors and he loved to travel. He had a love of motorcycles and four-wheelers. He loved The Tennessee Volunteers. He loved his family most of all.
He was predeceased by his mother, Peggy Groves; father, Jimmy Groves; and his nephew, Patton.
He is survived by his wife, Brooke Groves of Chattanooga; his son, Logan (Jade) Groves of Chattanooga; his siblings, Nanette Groves (Jerry) Smith of Pikeville and Becky Groves of Franklin; his granddaughter, Ophelia Groves of Chattanooga; his sister and brother-in-law, Jonathan and Kristy Montieth of Chattanooga; and his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 21 at Calvary Chapel Chattanooga with Pastor Frank officiating.
