New 4-year contract offered Director of Schools

Over 75 people filled the cafetoriam at Bledsoe County Middle School Monday evening, February 5, to express their concerns over extending the Director of Schools’ contract prematurely. Despite apparent opposition, the Board of Education approved a proposed contract to extend Director of Schools Selina Sparkman’s contract until June 30, 2028 with a base pay raise to $139,900.

After two hours of individuals and board members expressing their concerns and opinions the decision was made. However, it was not unanimous with Board members Andy Billingsley, Vincent Boring, Jacob Frady, Carolyn Oakes, and Don Snow voting in favor of the extension, while Ben Farmer and Bron Reece voted against it.
