Marker dedicated to Captain Rains, an American Revolutionary War Patriot

Captain John Rains, an American Revolutionary War Patriot, was honored Saturday, August 5 by the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) John Sevier Chapter with many of his descendants present. A grave marker was placed at Collier Cemetery and a ceremony held.

Rains was granted the property that has remained in the Rains family for many years, part of which serves as Collier Cemetery and most of the other property is where his descendants continue to reside.

The grave marker reads “John Rains, Patriot 1775, P-275057, 1759-1835, Captain NC Rangers.”
