Aviagen searching for local farm partnerships
Aviagen, the company behind the under-construction feed mill off the U.S. 127 bypass in Pikeville, is planning a meeting alongside the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TNAg) and the University of Tennessee Extension Office. The meeting pertains to sourcing corn from farmers in Pikeville for the mill.
“Aviagen is interested in setting up supply agreements with farmers to source as much locally grown corn as possible,” according to Assistant Commissioner Keith Harrison with the TNAg Businness Development Division. “To accommodate the needs of the Pikeville feed mill, Aviagen has asked us to reach out to farmers within a 50, 75 and 100-mile radius of Pikeville.”
