Tracey Cagle appointed to serve as Bledsoe County Trustee
The Bledsoe County Commission re-appointed Tracey Cagle to serve as Bledsoe County Trustee until the 2022 election—after the winner of the November election declined to take the office late last year due to health concerns.
She was first appointed to the office by the commission last fall to serve as interim Trustee until the November election, following the mid-term resignation of Trustee Deanna Rains [D].
County Commissioners Ruth Burton, Brent Griffith, Junior Hankins, Craig Mercer, Robert Reece, Tanya Roberson, Ronald Sapp, Roger Simmons, and Johnny Mack Swafford voted to appoint Cagle. Commissioners Tim Cambell, Matthew Colvard, and Perry Swafford voted against Cagle’s nomination. Commissioner Robert Worthington was absent.
Two other members of the community, Adrian Hankins and Susan Olinger, submitted their names for consideration to be appointed to the post. Commissioners were able to vote for multiple candidates in the first round, with the person having the most votes being appointed if no tie occurred.
Hankins received six yes and six no votes. Olinger received four yes votes and eight no votes.
