Board narrows Director search to three

The Bledsoe County Board of Education approved moving forward with interviewing three finalists as recommended by the Tennessee School Board Association at a meeting on Tuesday, May 26.

The three candidates to be interviewed in no particular order are: James Ellis, Principal, Pikeville Elementary School; Thomas “Preston” Caldwell, Principal, Lake County High School, Tiptonville; and Selina Sparkman, Millington Middle School, Millington. A total of thirteen people applied for the position.

Board Members Andy Billingsley, Vincent Boring, Stacy Farmer, Jacob Frady, Carolyn Oakes, and Don Snow voted to move forward with interviewing the recommended three. Board Member Bron Reece voted against the recommendations.

Frady made a motion to add Dr. Becky Ridley and Dr. Greg Harwood to the list of candidates to be interviewed, but the motion failed due to lack of a second.

Interviews are scheduled to take place next Wednesday, June 3, beginning at either 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. in a public meeting at Bledsoe County Middle School. The exact time is to be determined at the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 1.
