Community helps their Cookeville neighbors
Several Bledsoe County residents and organizations have pulled together to assist in helping tornado victims in nearby Cookeville, which was devastated by an EF-4 tornado on March 4, killing 18 in Putnam County and destroying or damaging hundreds of homes.
A string of at least seven tornadoes tore through Middle Tennessee last Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, killing 24 in The Volunteer State.
Bledsoe County Rescue Squad (BCRS) Captain Dale Hannah said eight members, including himself, travelled to the area of the tornado between Cookeville and Baxter to assist with search and rescue, and direct traffic for the electric company while they worked to restore power to residents.
