The Bledsoe County High School FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week with a series of meaningful events that highlighted appreciation, service, leadership, and school spirit.
The week began Tuesday evening, February 24, with the annual Alumni Dinner held in the BCHS cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The event was a great success, selling 47 out of 50 available plates. Guests enjoyed a meal supported by generous sponsors, with meat sourced by P3 Meats, food prepared by Morgan Brothers, and additional support from the Bledsoe County Cattlemen’s Association. The evening included a drawing for a YETI cooler and several silent auction lots.
The program featured an invitation led by Chapter President Lucas Simmons, the opening ceremony led by Secretary Peyton Simmons, a chapter update from Vice President Abigayle Houser, and a thank-you speech delivered by Reporter Jalynn Evans. All proceeds from the dinner will support the Bledsoe FFA Chapter’s trip to the State Convention and provide barn supplies. The chapter extends sincere thanks to the student volunteers who serve plates and make the night successful.
On Wednesday, members showed their appreciation for BCHS faculty and staff during Ag Teacher Appreciation Day by hosting a teacher breakfast in the school library. FFA members served biscuits and breakfast drinks as a way of thanking educators for their continued support of agricultural education and student success.
Thursday was Give FFA Day, when six chapter members traveled to the Tennessee State Capitol. While there, they observed a legislative session and delivered vases of flowers to state legislative offices as a gesture of gratitude for their ongoing support of agriculture and agricultural education. The also had the opportunity to meet with Governor Bill Lee, participate in a mock debate and vote on the House Floor sponsored by Representative Ron Travis and Laura Travis.
The week concluded Friday with Wear Blue Day, celebrating FFA pride across campus. Active members served snow cones and Coke floats to students during Warrior Time. Any student wearing an FFA shirt received a free treat, helping spread awareness of the organization and encouraging school participation.
National FFA Week provided an opportunity for the Bledsoe County FFA Chapter to give back to the community, recognize supporters, and celebrate agricultural education. The chapter appreciates everyone who participated and helped make the week a success.
