Pikeville Natural Gas (PNG) is encouraging all customers to complete the Natural Gas Survey being sent out in an automated all-call beginning on April 20. Please be aware the survey may continue to be sent out after that date.
The survey concerns natural gas safety and it will consist of roughly four to five questions, and will not take any longer than five minutes.
It is imperative the public participates in this survey not only because it is required to be sent out, according to officials, but because it helps PNG to know if the general public is aware of natural gas lines in the area and what to do or what actions to take in the case of a natural gas leak.
Pikeville Natural Gas is required to send out this survey every five years to maintain compliance with the Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). Most customers of the Pikeville Natural Gas department will receive the call, however it may branch out to other areas of the county as well.
Pikeville City Hall’s phone number, 423-447-2919, will be used as the caller identification in order to be sure the call is secure and safe from spam and information leaks. The survey will remain anonymous and participants will not be required to give personal information.
An example survey question: “Do you know the purpose of natural gas pipelines and how reliable they are?”
There will be an update posted on all City of Pikeville websites, www.pikevilletn.com, and the Pikeville FaceBook page.
Excavation is the number one cause of pipeline damage. Before you dig, please call Tennessee811 by dialing 811 on your phone, or go to www.tn811.com.
In the case of a natural gas emergency please call 911 or Pikeville City Hall at 423-447-2919.
Officials requests everyone to please understand the importance of this survey and all participation is appreciated.
