Bledsoe County Schools have demonstrated overall improvement in the Tennessee Department of Education’s newly released School Letter Grades, with all schools showing growth from the prior year.
The School Letter Grades system was established under T.C.A. § 49-1-228, legislation passed in 2016 to provide parents and families with clear, consistent information about how Tennessee public schools are performing. The grades reflect school performance from the previous academic year and allow comparisons over time.
For the 2024–2025 school year, Bledsoe County schools earned the following letter grades:
•Cecil B. Rigsby Elementary School — A
•Bledsoe County High School — B
•Pikeville Elementary School — B
•Mary V. Wheeler Elementary School — B
•Bledsoe County Middle School — C
Each of these schools improved their overall performance compared to the prior year’s results.
School Letter Grades are calculated using multiple indicators, including student achievement, student academic growth, growth of the highest-need students, and college and career readiness for high schools. Schools receive scores across these indicators, which are weighted by grade band and combined to determine the final letter grade.
Dr. Kristy Walker, Director of Schools for Bledsoe County, praised the efforts of students and staff while emphasizing continued progress.
“We are proud of the hard work demonstrated by our students, teachers, and school leaders,” said Dr. Walker. “The improvement seen across all of our schools reflects a strong commitment to growth and continuous improvement. While we celebrate these gains, we remain focused on providing every student with the support and opportunities they need to succeed.”
Families are encouraged to view School Letter Grades as one of several tools available to understand school performance.
