Gary Lynn Black

Gary Lynn Black, 72, of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side.

Gary attended Bethel Church of Christ. He spent his career in the manufacturing industry, retiring from Rheem Manufacturing (Wetumpka, Alabama) as plant manager, and during his career, he also held managerial positions with American Lighting (Bainbridge, GA), and Excel (Pikeville, TN).

Gary enjoyed carpentry, wood-working, and theater set design. He loved traveling, boating, kayaking, and acting in local theater.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Jesse and Hazel Irene Harrell Black.

Left behind to cherish Gary’s memories are his loving wife of 52 years, Sherida Mitchell Black; children, Cristy (Brad) Pendergrass, Jessee (Amy) Black, Hollee (Ashley) Pope; grandchildren, Savannah (Adam) Cable, Sawyer Pendergrass (Katherine), Calob (Jayden) VonBank, Avery (Hannah) Black, Jackson Black, Gunnar Pope, and Indiana Pope; great-grandchildren, Arabella Black and Atlas Cable; sister, Judy (Bobby) Estes; fur babies, Willie, Waylene, and Moon; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 CDT at Fall Creek Falls Recreation Hall. In lieu of flowers, please bring a cherished memory to share.
