It’s working! Opening a daycare for Bledsoe County School System personnel as a way to recruit teachers is proving itself. At least two teachers accepted positions with the system due to the Little Warriors Daycare offered at Pikeville Elementary School, reports Dr. Kristy Walker with the school system.
“We had over 20 openings (teaching positions) in the beginning of the school year,” said Dr. Walker. “We are trying to think of any way we can to entice teachers to join our staff, and the daycare is proving to be a great tool. We got two awesome teachers because of it, so far. A chemistry teacher is one of them and they are hard to find.”
