City increases property tax rate
City of Pikeville officials gave the green light to increase the City’s property tax rate by about 25¢ per $100 of assessed value in an effort to fund paving main city streets. Mayor Philip Cagle previously stated the increase would bring in about $100,000 to use for paving.
During a public hearing Monday evening, August 8, no one present offered input for or against the proposed increase. The new property tax rate will be $1 per $100 of assessed value.
