City seeks to raise property taxes

The need to improve city roads, playgrounds, tourist attractions and services for the City of Pikeville are the reasons the City is seeking to raise the property tax rate, according to Pikeville Mayor Philip Cagle. City Aldermen have a public hearing set for Monday, August 8 at 6:25 p.m. at the municipal building, prior to their regular meeting where the final reading is expected to be held concerning the nearly 25-cent rate increase.
