Board hopes staff daycare helps to recruit teachers

One way the Bledsoe County Board of Education is hoping will entice teachers to apply for jobs here, and retain its current staff, is the addition of a daycare. Discussion about the possibility Monday evening, April 18, led to the approval to pursue adding a daycare facility within the Pikeville Elementary school building.

Dr. Kristy Walker informed the Board a survey was conducted of its current teaching staff with many teachers indicating they would like for a school system employee daycare being made available. She said the survey indicated as many as 24 children, infant to age four, would utilize the daycare if offered.
