Alice Mae Arutoff
It is with great sorrow that the family of Alice May (Howell) Arutoff passed away at the age of 90 on October 30, 2021, in Pikeville Tennessee. She had resided there since the death of her husband, Thomas Arutoff, of 49 years
Alice was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1931 to parents, William and Mildred (Scott) Howell. After graduation fomr high school in Taylor, Kentucky, she moved to Washington D. C. to work as a secretary where she met and married her Navy husband. She traveled with him while raising children. Eventually, they settled in Detroit, Michigan, and later they retired to Kentucky.
Alice loved to dance and entertain. Her love for entertaining fit well with all the businesses that they owned. She was nicknamed “Pat” by her grandmother because of the constant tapping of her feet.
She is survived by her five children, Thomas Arutoff, Keith Arutoff of Michigan, Martin Arutoff (Charlotte) of Kentucky; daughters, Vicky Fields (Doug) of Tennessee, and Mary Canfield (David) of Michigan. She is also survived by her sisters Eliece Nevin (Jim) and Beth Fuentes of Ohio, Bertha Bolton (Jack) of Michigan, Reva Curtis (Farrell), and Faye Woolsey (Glyndon) of Kentucky. She has numbers grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arutoff; father William Howell; mother, Midred Howell; step-father, Lafayette Howell; and brother, Frank Howell.
Graveside services will be ehld at the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, Kentucky. Services to be announced.
