From mild symptoms to near death: One local family’s fight against coronavirus
“About the second day in the hospital, I was scared, I was just so lifeless,” Janie Newby said. “I just said God help, you know, help me through with this. I can’t do it on my own. I know God brought me out, because when the doctors say, you know, you’re just so sick, very close, I knew what they meant. I could have died from this.”
Janie first got sick on Friday, March 13. She was tired, run-down, and confined to a bed with no energy.
By Tuesday, March 17, she decided to go to the doctor. She officially tested positive for flu – strains A and B, and developed double pneumonia. She was sent home with antibiotics and Tamiflu.
Her condition continued to worsen.
