Ruby Louise (Reed) Poff

    Ruby Louise (Reed) Poff, 95, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, September 23, 2010.

    She graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1932. Poff lived most of her life in Chattanooga with her husband and two children and was a member of Graysville Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She worked until she was 84 at Chambliss Children’s Home in Chattanooga.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lewis Poff; parents, Emmett and Della Gribble Reed; brothers, Walter and Clarence Reed; and sisters Nora Agee and Clella Wheeler.

    Survivors include daughter, Melba Poff Shaver of Dayton; son, Elmer Poff of Chattanooga; brother, Norman Reed of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Sheila White, Karol Stroud, Sherry Wohlfeil, Jami Hale-Poorman, Jim Hale II, Keri Dooley, Scott Batten, and Beth Vidalez; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

    The service was held September 26 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Denny Manning officiating. Burial was in Pikeville Cemetery.
