America celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the City of Pikeville is joining the celebration with special events in July from military recognition to a parade.
The celebration starts on Wednesday, July 1, with a tribute to the Military who have served our nation. All Veterans and their families are invited to be part of a special evening of gratitude and remembrance beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Main Street Stage. A complimentary meal will be provided during the event.
Come together to celebrate service, sacrifice, and the spirit of America, encourages the event committee.
On July 4th, the celebration starts with a parade through downtown Pikeville at 2:00 p.m. Parade lineup is at 1:00 p.m. so decorate a float or ride in red, white, and blue to commemorate the 250th birthday of this great nation. Organizations, individuals, businesses, horse riders and wagons are encouraged to be a part of the parade.
Summer Nights with its cruise-in and musical entertainment happen downtown beginning at 4:00 p.m. Music by Good Rockin’ Tonight starts at 5:00 p.m. Food trucks are going to be set up during this time downtown.
As evening falls, a fireworks display is planned as part of the annual Star Spangled Celebration at the Bledsoe County Fairgrounds on Allen P. Deakins Road in Pikeville. Gates open at 8:00 p.m. with free admission. Grab the entire family and bring a blanket or chair for comfort and come enjoy some community fun.
The fireworks show, managed by the Bledsoe County Rescue Squad, begins at 9:00 p.m. The event is brought to you by the Main Street Committee with the sponsorship of BTC Fiber, Sequachee Valley Electric.
