The family of Anne (Anna) Blanche Ferguson Frady have never lost hope in finding her after she disappeared 30 years ago, never to be heard from again.
She was last seen on January 14, 1996 at what was known at the time as J.J.’s Market, now Elite Market on Main Street in Pikeville. According to reports at the time, Frady was also seen walking on U.S. Highway 127 in Bledsoe County walking south towards Sequatchie County.
According to a deputy’s report, he saw Frady at the convenience store at 5:45 a.m. and she had asked him to take her to Moccasin Bend. The deputy, who is now deceased, stated in a report he could not take her to Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga, it was against department policy. Family had told authorities she was sick and needed medication.
The 57-year-old woman was wearing blue jeans, a purple shirt, brown coat, and glasses at that time. She weighed between 130-140 lbs. and was between 5’4” -5’9” tall, with brownish/gray hair.
She was married to Hershel Frady at the time she turned up missing, according to reports. He is now deceased.
Investigators with the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Department other emergency agencies conducted extensive searches in February, 1996, following leads, but never uncovered where she was or what happened to her. A 22-mile search of the Sequatchie Rivers was conducted by emergency personnel in February of 1996 to see if she may have fallen into the river, but nothing was found. Ground searches were also conducted but nothing was found to aid in the investigation.
Although it has been 30 years and Frady would be 87, the family continues the search to find answers about their loved one.
