Revised: Vapes found with high levels of THC

REVISED RELEASE: The Sunoco, in north Pikeville, is currently closed due to an ongoing investigation. On Thursday afternoon, September 18, 2025, authorities conducted an e-cigarette “vape” sales investigation and found a local store selling vapes with excessive levels of THC (primary psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant responsible for intoxicating effects associated with marijuana use), reported Bledsoe County Sheriff Jimmy Morris.

A vape (e-cigarette) purchased by an individual tested positive for levels higher than the legal rate of .3, he said. Authorities tested other vape products sold there, and according to Sheriff Morris, the very first one tested had an extremely high level of THC.

Charges are pending further investigation.
