    Griffith Volunteer Fire Department is holding a fund raising Sunday luncheon on November 11 beginning at noon. Loaded potato soup, cornbread, dessert and drink are on the menu for $7 per person. All proceeds go to the fire department.BS45

    Toy drive begins

    Those who know of Bledsoe County children in need of Christmas can start calling the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Department’s Christmas Toy Drive on November 12 at (423) 447-2197 ext. 450. Call-ins will not be accepted after December 10 for the toy drive. Be sure to leave the child’s age, gender, and address with a good working telephone number when you call.

    If anyone wants to make a monetary donation please make checks payable to the Bledsoe County Christmas Fund. If you wish to donate canned goods, please bring them to the jail before December 10. The toys and food boxes will be delivered on December 17-18.B45S46

    Volunteers needed to help with animals

    Recently, authorities seized numerous cats and dogs from a residence in Sequatchie County. Many of the animals have been placed in homes, but several remain at the former zipper factory in Dunlap. Volunteers are needed to help take care of the animals by socializing the pets, cleaning cages and walking dogs.     Pecans are here! Pecan sale has begun

    The annual pecan sale by the Pikeville United Methodist Women is underway. Bags are $10 for whole halves, pieces, cinnamon glazed, chocolate covered, chocolate clusters and dark chocolate.     Santa Claus is coming to Pikeville Elementary

    Lake Tansi Village Christmas Craft Show

    The annual Christmas Craft Show at Lake Tansi Village in Crossville is Friday and Saturday, November 16-17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day at the Thunderbird Recreation Hall. Lunch is available both days. Santa Claus is going to be there Saturday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. to greet the kids and give out treats. The Lake Tansi Village Church Choir is singing Christmas Carols form 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free and all are invited.BS45

    On the third Saturday, November 17, a fried chicken lunch fund raiser at Luminary-Frostbite VFD, located at 13002 Summer City Road in Spring City, is being held from noon to 3 p.m. EDT. Lunch includes one entree, two vegetables, one side item, bread, dessert and a beverage for $6 per plate. Proceeds help support the department. Everyone is invited.BS46

Crest Fire Department is having its last breakfast of the season on November 17 from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. There will be someone at the fire hall on Friday, November 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to take donations. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the fire hall, gas, and equipment they use during a fire or setting up for emergency helicopter landing.BS46

    Clothes closet at Winesap Free Will Baptist

    On Saturday, November 17 Winesap Free Will Baptist Church will open its clothes closet from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The clothes closet will be open every first and third Saturday of each month until further notice. Anyone needing clothes or who knows someone who does can come by at this time. The church will have nice clothes for work, play and dress of all sizes at no charge. The church is located on Lantana Road (Hwy. 101) at the Bledsoe-Cumberland county line.
