    A representative with Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) is going to be at the Bledsoe County Courthouse on Thursday, November 1 beginning at 11:00 a.m. If you have legal problems with housing/mortgage/foreclosure, consumer, health/benefits/food stamps, family, unemployment or senior, and qualify for free legal assistance, you can apply for help.     Pond management day planned

    On Thursday, November 1, a Bledsoe and Sequatchie County Pond Management Field Day is being held at Perry Swafford’s Farm, near 6868 Lower East Valley Road, Pikeville (0.4 miles north of College Station Road. Aquatic Weed Management, Fish Sampling Demonstration and Stocking Rates, Pond Sealing Options, and Conservation Programs are the topics to be discussed. A meal is provided and door prizes are available at this free event. For directions or more information call the UT Extension Bledsoe County Office at (423) 447-2451.     Bargain Basement continuing

    The Bargain Basement continues to be open at Pikeville United Methodist Church on Main Street in Pikeville on the first and third Saturdays of each month. A special Christmas room has been set up and on Saturday, November 3, the United Methodist Women are having their annual bake sale set up outside the Bargain Basement rooms. Hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pecans will be arriving in mid-November for your holiday baking. B44

    Fried chicken dinner

    On Saturday, November 3, the Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department is having its first Saturday fried chicken fund raising lunch at the fire hall  located at 13002 Summer City Road in Spring City. Lunch is from noon until 3:00 p.m. EDT and includes one entree, two vegetables, one side item, bread, dessert and a beverage. Proceeds help support the department. Everyone is invited. B44

    Depression recovery and anxiety program

    A depression recovery and anxiety program is offered every Monday beginning November 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pikeville Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship hall, 52 Cumberland Avenue, Pikeville. This is for anyone or anyone who has a loved one suffering from depression or anxiety. The cost is free except for materials you may want to purchase. The program being used is the Nedley Depression and Anxiety and Recovery. For more information and to register call Laura Arner at (423) 448-1987. BT44
