    If you currently receive food from the Bledsoe County Food Bank and are in a family of four persons or more, the Food Bank is making a special distribution on Wednesday, September 5. If your regular pickup date is any day in September, you are eligible. Pre-registration and vouchers are required. Stop by the Food Bank before August 29 to get details. New registrations are not eligible for pickup on this day. Please have freezer and refrigerator space available as a large amount of these items will be given out. Only one voucher per family, no pickups for others. Picture identification is required. Open from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. only, first come-first served.

If you would like to help support your local 4-H’ers by participating in the “You’ve Been Flocked Fundraiser,” please contact UT-TSU Extension in Bledsoe County. All donations go to scholarships given to Bledsoe County 4-H’ers attending 4-H Camp in Crossville. The pink birds can be placed on your friend’s yard or business for a donation to the Bledsoe County 4-H Club. The birds will migrate to a yard or business for no longer than 48 hours, at this time they will make their next migration. This is a 4-man select shot scramble with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Cash prizes of $300 to the first place team and $200 to the second place in the first flight, plus first and second place prizes awarded in the second flight. There is a 30 team max and must be registered by September 21. Prizes for longest putt, longest drive, and closest to the pin are to be awarded. Refreshments are provided by the Bledsoe County Fair.     You can sing for someone else’s supper on Sunday, September 30 at the Bledsoe County Ministerial Association’s Sing-spiration to benefit the Bledsoe County Community Food Bank. Already in 2018, the Food Bank has given out over 22 tons of food to hungry families, and the need keeps growing. Currently, the Food Bank’s wish list includes bar soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, and canned hams for the holidays. You can donate directly to the Food Bank, or bring items or monetary donations to the Sing-spiration. The Fifth Sunday event is hosted by the Pikeville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, beginning at 6 p.m., with dinner to follow. This event is the first public duty for new Association President Mark Cox, pastor of the host church.BS38
