National Day of Prayer
The 2017 National Day of Prayer is being observed on Thursday, May 4, at noon, with a short prayer gathering in front of the Bledsoe County Courthouse in Pikeville. In 1954, the United States Congress established the National Day of Prayer as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. This year’s local prayer service is being sponsored by the Bledsoe County Ministerial Association. There is no sermon, only prayers for our nation, state, community, homes, schools, churches, etc. Representatives from numerous different local congregations are leading the prayers. Everyone is invited to attend. Seating is limited, so you are welcome to bring a lawn chair. B17S18
