    Better Bledsoe is hosting a Community Health Fair on Main Street in Pikeville from Cumberland Avenue to Cranwell Street on Friday, September 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in partnership with the 4th annual Dentistry from the Heart event. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to First Southern Baptist Church’s Family Ministry Center on Main Street.     Flamingo migration continues for 4-H

    A reminder, the Bledsoe County 4-H great Flamingo migration is in full flight. If you would like to help support your local 4-H’ers by participating in the “You’ve Been Flocked Fundraiser,” please contact UT-TSU Extension in Bledsoe County. All donations go to scholarships given to Bledsoe County 4-H’ers attending 4-H Camp in Crossville. The pink birds can be placed on your friend’s yard or business for a donation to the Bledsoe County 4-H Club. The birds will migrate to a yard or business for no longer than 48 hours, at this time they will make their next migration. Don’t wait too long though, the migration will only last for a short time this year. Thank you for participating in the great migration, your sense of humor, and your support is appreciated.     The 15th annual Homesteads Apple Festival is being held Saturday, September 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., September 22-23. Adult admission is $5 and covers both days, plus free admission to the Homestead Tower Museum where you can learn the history of the Cumberland Homesteads New Deal Community, Spinning Yarns Storytelling, Homesteads Apple Festival Crafts & Antiques Show with over 100 exhibitors, the Antique Tractor Show, and live bluegrass, country and gospel concerts. No admission fee for children ages 10 and younger when accompanied by an adult. Handicap parking available and parking is free.BS37

    Bentley’s Smile for Miles 5K is September 22

    The 2018 Bentley’s Smiles for Miles 5K is September 22 at 8:00 a.m. at Ewtonville Baptist Church in Dunlap. This timed, 5K race has been created to raise money, increase awareness, and provide hope for those affected by SMA (spinal muscular atrophy). Runners, walkers, and rollers are welcome.     Homesteads Apple Festival in Crossville is taking applications for artists, craftsmen and authors for the September 22-23 event. Applications can be downloaded at www.cumberlandhomesteads.org/applefest.html or can be requested by calling 931-456-9663. Show is limited to artists and craftsmen who handcraft their merchandise, authors and illustrators of books, and antiques and collectibles (with approval). Application deadline is August 25.BS31
