    On Saturday, August 12, the Farmers Market in downtown Pikeville has a variety of items for sale including produce to pack in school lunches, fresh peaches, apples, honey, flowers, eggs, herbs and handmade crafts. All items and produce are handmade or homegrown by Bledsoe County residents. B32

    Paws and Claws Animal Shelter (501c3 non-profit) is now accepting donations of good items to sell at the annual 127 Yard Sale. No clothes or shoes.   • Open house/back to school dance at BCMS

    Bledsoe County Middle School is holding its third annual Open House on August 15. Students have a Back-to-School Dance happening from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the gym. The night for parents begins in the school auditorium at 6:00 p.m. with an informational meeting with Principal  Chris Cagle. Parents then have the opportunity to follow their child’s daily schedule, visiting the classrooms and meeting their child’s teachers. Door prizes are going to be given away during the night.

  • Second Chance pet group awaits calls

    Volunteers with the Second Chance Pet Group are waiting for your calls for spaying and neutering service. The Pikeville and Dunlap scheduling procedures have changed and the group is working with several vets. Please call 554-4442 to discuss your spay and neuter needs. Be sure to leave your name, phone number, best time of day to return your call and what services you need. If you are blocking private callers, the volunteers cannot reach you. Volunteers will try to call and get your pet scheduled. The group continues to assist the community the same as it has for the last six years. B33S34

    The Bledsoe County Cattlemen’s Association is meeting Thursday, August 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Bledsoe County Middle School. Topics to be discussed are the current Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement Cost Share Program, the upcoming TAEP 2017-2018, private applicator certification and recertification, and the fall seeding program. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. The meeting is sponsored by Citizens Tri-County Bank in Pikeville, and a meal is being provided. Representative with Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) are going to be there at 11:00 a.m. to assist applicants who meet federal poverty and LAET priority guidelines.
