A spaghetti supper and Early Bird Christmas Market, hosted by Lee Station Baptist Church and Pikeville Seventh-day Adventist Church is being held November 2 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event is being held at 52 Cumberland Avenue in Pikeville. Plates are $5 per person and children 10 and under eat for $3. All proceeds raised benefit The House of Hope.

A huge inside yard sale at Christian House of Prayer is Thursday through Saturday, November 2-4, beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day. The church is located past the ball park in Pikeville. Lots of new items, what-nots, canning jars, pictures, kitchen items, coolers, furniture and more. For more info call 447-2962.

The American Legion Post 66 is meeting on Thursday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Club in Pikeville. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

The Nature Conservancy, in partnership with TN State Parks, TN Division of Forestry, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other partners, is offering a free November 3 workshop showing people how to run their own businesses providing pest-free, heat-treated firewood. This is to meet a growing demand because of firewood restrictions at state parks and federal parks in Tennessee. It’s a story about the intersection of small business & environmental conservation. This free public workshop will be held Friday, November 3, 9:30 a.m. at Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville. B42S43

    The Bledsoe County Farm Bureau is having its annual meeting on November 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school. All Farm Bureau members are invited to enjoy a good meal, door prizes and entertainment.

The Bledsoe County 4-H Horse Club is now meeting bimonthly. Any students in 4th through 12th grades are welcome to attend. You do not have to own a horse to participate. Please contact Whitney Jackson at 447-2451 or wsimmon7@utk.edu for more information.

Join the Bledsoe County Rescue Squad on the bypass in Pikeville for a country breakfast on Saturday, November 4 from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. Enjoy sausage, country ham, fried bologna, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits, gravy and drinks all for $6 per plate. Proceeds benefit the operations of the Bledsoe County Rescue Squad.

On Saturday, November 4 Winesap Free Will Baptist Church will open its clothes closet from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The clothes closet will be open every first and third Saturday of each month until further notice. Anyone needing clothes or who knows someone who does can come by at this time. The church will have nice clothes for work, play and dress of all sizes at no charge. The church is located on Lantana Road (Hwy. 101) at the Bledsoe-Cumberland county line. On Saturday, November 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Upper Cumberland Craft Show is being held at the Cumberland County Community Complex in Crossville. Featured are 50-plus artists and crafters, breakfast, lunch, and live Bluegrass music by the Grandview Mountain Pickers on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Free admission and wheelchair and power chair accessible. The event is sponsored by the Cumberland County FCE.

A Community Seminar is planned for November 4 at First Baptist Church, 231 3rd Avenue in Dayton from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST by the Eternal Life Support Group. Meet and greet with refreshments served begins at 10:30 a.m. This seminar is for those 18 and up, and cost $10 per person or $15 per couple. Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department invites everyone to come celebrate Thanksgiving with them on Saturday, November 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On the menu are turkey and dressing, ham, fired chicken, assorted vegetables and desserts for$6 per plate with children eating for $3. Tickets for an Academy Sports gift card are still available.

Lee Station Baptist Church is hosting a singing on Sunday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. the Morrison Sisters and The Agee Family are going to be singing.

The Bledsoe County Veteran Services Office will be closed from October 30 through November 5 and will reopen on November 6.B43S44

Advanced Master Beef program dates are as follows: November 6, 7, 13, 14 from 9:00 a.m. till noon at the Pikeville Municipal Building Conference Room. Producers must attend all four days to receive certification. The cost is $150. Producers with BQA certification will receive a $100 scholarship, reducing the cost to $50. Bledsoe County has been challenged to Battle of the Mile against Sequatchie County to see who can walk the most miles in eight weeks. You can register and report miles walked online at https://extension.tennessee.edu/Bledsoe/Pages/Walk-Across-Tennessee.aspx. Four person teams can be registered. The miles walked can be calculated beginning with October 7. Prizes are being awarded at the end of the eight-week period. West End Country Cooking, located inside West End Church of God Family Life Center, has meals available for purchase. A meat and three vegetables is $6, meat and two is $5, veggie plate is $4, dessert and drink are $1 each. Everyone is invited to attend the Paws and Claws Animal Shelter November membership meeting on November 9 at Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative, 97 Resource Road off US Highway 127 north in Dunlap at 6:00 p.m. Come meet them and help them work to build an animal shelter for the Sequatchie Valley area. Wheeler Addition Church of God, located at 111 Manufacturer Road behind the nursing home, in Pikeville, is having a service on November 11 at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Jennie Brown and Rhea Central Church of God are doing a Praise service. Pastor Johnny Lebron Herd is the speaker, and he along with the church members welcome young and old to come fellowship.

Wheeler Addition Church of God is having a Saturday service on November 11 you do not want to miss. Pastor Johnny Lebron Herd is bringing the message “It’s time to come together.” The church is located at 111 Manufacturer Road, behind the Nursing Home in Pikeville. Members of American Legion Post 66 and VFW Post 5033 will have a big country breakfast Saturday, November 11 from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Hall in Pikeville. Come out and enjoy biscuits and gravy, ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, coffee, milk and juice for a donation going towards the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The breakfast is sponsored by First Farmers and Commercial Bank.

All veterans are encouraged to participate in the Jasper Veterans Day Parade on November 11 at 1:00 p.m. The parade route is from Betsy Pack to Main Street in Jasper. At 3:00 p.m., a special presentation on the USS Indianapolis from the son of Lost at Sea Lt. Commander Earl Henry and viewing of the newly released documentary “USS Indianapolis: The Legacy,” where the last crew members and their families share gripping stories of the Indy. UT-TSU Extension Bledsoe County is offering two Holiday Gifts Workshops on Tuesday, November 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pikeville Municipal Building Kitchen & Conference Room. A canning workshop is being offered from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A burlap wreath workshop begins at 6:35 p.m. Cost is $25 for one workshop or both for $30. Fall Creek Falls Fire Department is seeking donations of slightly used or new toys to be given away at its breakfast with Santa on December 16. All donations can be dropped off at Fire Chief Ed Beard’s residence, 13862 Park Road, Pikeville or contact (423) 881-5546. The department appreciates your support.

Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency Van Buren County Head Start is hosting its 18th annual Jobs, Education, Health and Awareness Fair on Thursday, November 16 in the auxiliary gym, across form the high school at 337 Sparta Street in Spencer. The fair is from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lots of information, services and support groups all free, plus door prizes. Interested in being a vendor? The annual Christmas Craft Show at Lake Tansi in Crossville is Friday and Saturday, November 17-18 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Thunderbird Recreation Hall. Lunch is available both days. Santa Claus is coming Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to greet the kids and give out treats, plus for pictures. The Lake Tansi Church Choir is singing Christmas Carols from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.

The Bledsoe County Senior Citizens Center invites everyone to its salad luncheon on Friday, November 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On the menu are homemade soups, cornbread, variety of salads, garden salad, ham, variety of sandwiches, homemade desserts and drink for $6 per plate. Dine-in or take-out. Call JoAnn at 447-6111 to fix plates and deliver to your business within the city limits. The Center is located at 148 Frazier Street in Pikeville. All proceeds go to fund the daily operations of the Center.

On Saturday, November 18, West End Church of God is holding Christmas Auction in its Family Life Center. Taco soup, chili and hot dogs with all the fixings, chips and desserts are being served beginning at 5:00 p.m. The auction starts at 6:00 p.m. with  crafts, jewelry, baked goods, fudge, glassware, snowmen, wreaths and Christmas crafts. Everyone is invited to come fellowship and shop.

All are invited to the area-wide third Sunday singing of the churches of Christ on Sunday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. The host church is Sequatchie Valley church of Christ, State Route 30 east of Pikeville.

It’s a Thanksgiving feast with turkey, dressing and all the trimmings, plus delicious homemade desserts at the Open Table at Pikeville United Methodist Church on Main Street on Tuesday, November 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. So come hungry and give thanks. There is no charge, no offering, no sermon—nothing but friendship and food. Everyone is welcome.

A Traditional community Thanksgiving Feast is planned for Thanksgiving Day, November 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Crest United Methodist Church, 32979 SR 30 West, Pikeville (next to Wheeler Elementary). This is free to all with family and friends welcome. On the menu are turkey and dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls, and pumpkin pie. B45S46

Volunteers are waiting for your call at 554-4442 to discuss spay or neuter procedures for Pikeville and Dunlap. Second Chance Pet Group is working with several Vets now and scheduling has changed. Call 554-4442 and leave your name, phone number, best time of day to return your call and what services you need. If you are blocking private callers, we cannot reach you. Volunteers will try to call you and get your animal scheduled. Second Chance Pet Group has been assisting the community for the past seven years.
