Property tax rate increases for Pikeville city residents

Property owners within the city limits of Pikeville will be paying an additional 15¢ per $100 of assessed value on their property taxes to meet the demands of the 2018-19 budget that was approved Monday, August 13. The new rate is $1 per $100 of assessed value which Mayor Philip Cagle says is long overdue.…

    Kids’ Sports Camp, for kids kindergarten through fifth grade, is happening June 11-14 at First Southern Baptist Church, 2827 Main Street, Pikeville. Classes in many different sports disciplines in addition to cheerleading from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Cost is $20 to cover all activities. Scholarships are available if unable to pay the fee. For more information call 423/488-4340.

    Fall Creek Falls Youth Camp is June 17-23. Applications can be picked up at the church office and must be returned by June 10. Cost is $150 per camper which covers all meals, lodging, and camp T-shirt. For more information call 423/488-4340.B23S24

    Paws and Claws meeting

    Everyone is invited to attend the Paws and Claws Animal Shelter membership meeting planned for June 14 at the Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative meeting room at 97 Resource Road, off US 127 in Dunlap. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Come help them as they work to build an animal shelter for the Sequatchie Valley area.

    Breakfast at Mt. Airy Fire Dept.

    The Mt. Crest Fire Department will have their monthly breakfast June 16, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Fire Department will be open on Friday, June 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for donations. All proceeds go for the upkeep of the fire hall, gas, equipment they use during a fire or setting up a landing zone.
