    Benefit and auction for Shorty Watson on July 29

    On July 29, a benefit and auction for Mitchell “Shorty” Watson’s funeral expenses is being held at the Fall Creek Falls Community Building. Turkey and dressing with all the trimmings are $6 a plate and serving begins at 3:00 p.m. Carry-outs are welcome. The auction starts at 5:00 p.m. and any donations are appreciated.     The Sequatchie Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is holding an Ancestor Research Seminar on Saturday, July 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bledsoe Rescue Squad Building located on the 127 Bypass in Pikeville. Among the speakers are Gordon Belt and Carol Roberts of the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Miss Elizabeth Robnett is going to be selling and autographing her book First Families of Bledsoe County. Tickets are $25 which includes lunch.
